Which links pay me and which do not

The paying ones are the tour cards, the check-availability buttons and the booking widgets. Each carries my partner tag, each opens on GetYourGuide, and that is the only place on this site where a transaction happens. The ones that pay me nothing are the links to the Bavarian Palace Administration in the footer and through the pages about tickets and hours — they point at the palace’s own counter because that is the only counter these three tickets are sold over.

Everything at this address that earns me nothing

This is the honest half of the page, and on this particular site it is the longer half.

• All three admission tickets. The Residenzmuseum, the Schatzkammer and the Cuvilliés-Theater are the palace’s own, and no listing on the booking platform sells plain admission at all. I earn nothing on the single ticket, nothing on the pair, nothing on the one that covers all three.
• Free entry for everyone under 18, and for students over 18 with a valid card from a general or vocational school.
• The audio guide, which is free, runs in nine languages and covers the museum and the treasury.
• The cloakroom, which is free and supervised, and which you will need if your bag is over the stated size.
• The Hofgarten, which is free, open and not part of any ticket — and which is the single best-value thing at this address.

What I do earn on is a guide, a private guide, or an evening of music: the things the platform actually sells here. Those are set out with the unit beside every figure on all sixteen listings, and the free version of the same visit is on the three tickets.

What the commission has not stopped me printing

That the largest listing I carry is a coach to the Alps holding eighteen times the ratings of every Residenz listing combined. That a walking tour which enters no building at all holds eight times as many. That one listing here has never been written about by anybody. And that the free handset, in nine languages, does most of what a paid guide is about to do for you. Those four sentences cost me money and they are on the reviews page and on the full list anyway.

The test I use is simple: would I say this to somebody standing in front of me at the Residenzstraße door, with no commission involved. If not, it does not go on the page. Questions about any of this? Write to me.
